MISSIONS & MINISTRY

THE GREAT COMMISSION
As Christians we are called to “Go, teach and make disciples…” Mount Olivet UMC is dedicated to this calling from Christ. We strive to do all we can and encourage those who feel called as well to take on new challenges that aim to fulfill this request from our Lord and Savior. Mission & Ministry is the foundation of our church, rather than just something that we do.

TAKE ACTION
Mount Olivet UMC has always maintained an open mission & ministry policy – if you feel the passion and want to use the time and talents given to you by our Creator, then take the reigns and steer that passion into something great that others will recognize as the work of the Lord. We are open and accepting of all.

Email us at mtoumc@mountolivetmethodist.org or call us at 304-242-3162 if you want to get involved and start something new in order to help us spread the Glory of God to all or use your talents to help the growth of one of our existing groups.

Bible Study

Throughout the year, we are always coming together in different ways to worship our Lord.

We offer a variety of Bible Studies and biblically-based book studies throughout the year.  We also engage in various topical studies.  The goal for each study is to raise important questions connected with one’s faith journey.  If you are outgoing and comfortable participating in a group learning environment or if you are someone who is reserved and learns through passive participation, you will find our studies welcoming and hospitable.

For more information, check the News and Events Page for upcoming study descriptions or call the church office at 304-242-3162.

Upper Room Bible Study & Prayer Group

 Heidi Schmidt, Facilitator

This warm, welcoming group of Christian sisters meets weekly on Wednesdays at 10 AM in the church chapel. The Upper Room Daily Devotional and selected Scripture for Wednesdays is read and discussed with sisters sharing their faith stories and struggles.

Devotion booklets are available at the church welcome center. You can sign up for free emails of the devotional at UpperRoom.org

In addition to their weekly meeting, the Upper Room sisters have a vibrant card ministry to those who are homebound, grieving, and ill from our parish and parish families.

Each meeting ends with intercessory prayer for the needs of the parish and each other.

All women, regardless of church affiliation, are warmly invited to be part of this loving group.

United Women in Faith
